Biene Pilavci , actually Birnur Pilavci , (born August 30, 1977 in Backnang ) is a German-Turkish filmmaker and actress .

Life

Before starting her film career, Biene Pilavci completed two apprenticeships as a painter and varnisher and saleswoman in retail in the furnishing sector and co-founded the social-cultural center Escanda in Asturias during a one-year stay in Spain , before studying directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin in 2005 ( dffb) began. Several short films were made during her studies , including the highly regarded short film Riss with Klaas Heufer-Umlauf and Aylin Tezel . In 2012 she finished her studies with the program-filling documentary about the power of the family alone dancing .

Against the background of the Gezi Park protests in Istanbul in June 2013, Pilavci co-directed with Ayla Gottschlich Chronicle of a Revolt - One Year Istanbul, her second full-program directorial work about the longing for a true democracy. This was broadcast in two different lengths on arte and ZDF - Das Kleine Fernsehspiel.

In addition to directing, Biene Pilavci also works as a film editor and subtitler in Berlin .
