Quarry pond |
The Bienroder See is a quarry pond near Bienrode , a district in the north of the city of Braunschweig , Lower Saxony .
location
The kidney-shaped lake is located northeast of the center of Bienrode and north of the connecting road between Bienrode and Waggum . From this street the Claudiusstraße and the Straße Im Großen Moore branch off , which open up the southern part of the lake. On Claudiusstrasse there is a central school on the steep east bank of the lake, while an industrial area extends to the west bank. Otherwise, dirt roads lead to the northern, larger area of the lake, which is connected to forest areas and the lowlands of the Beberbach .
Use as a swimming lake and fishing water
The lake is a popular bathing lake in summer , which is particularly impressive because of its quiet, natural location. The southern part of the lake offers a sandy beach and a large lawn for sunbathing. Bathing at the lake is not officially permitted, but this is largely ignored. Several attempts have been made in vain to enforce bathing bans in certain areas. The bathing water quality in the lake is not monitored under the EU Bathing Water Directive . The lake is partly owned by the city (middle and southern part), other parts are owned by the Braunschweiger Fischer Club and the Protestant Church .
Considerations to officially make the lake a local recreation area already existed in 1997, but these fizzled out. In 2014, after public toilets had been set up by the city and regulated waste disposal had been set up, a similar consideration was made in the Waabe-Schunte-Beberbach district council by the parliamentary groups of the SPD , Greens and BIBS as part of a request to the administration.
The fishing rights on the lake are jointly exercised by the Angelsportverein Braunschweig from 1922 and the Braunschweiger Fischer eV club. The Braunschweiger Fischer Club lists white fish , perch , eel , carp , tench and pike .
