Brigitte "Biggi" Fahnenschreiber-Depenheuer (born April 27, 1931 in Cologne ) is a German ballet dancer and choreographer .

Due to her long and significant work with well-known Cologne carnival dance groups , she is commonly known in Cologne as "the mother of Mariechen ".

Artistic resume

Biggi Fahnenschreiber came to dance at the age of eight through the children's ballet of the Cologne city stages. In 1947 she was admitted to the Anita Bell dance school for training as a stage dancer. In addition, she was a dance trainee at the Städtische Bühnen , where she was engaged in 1950. In 1957 she moved to the Freiburg City Theater as a prima ballerina and in 1959 to the Aachen Theater . Her repertoire included numerous solo parts from classical ballet literature; Dance tours have taken her through the USA and all of Europe .

Cologne Carnival

Biggi Fahnenschreiber was active in carnival dancing for over 45 years. During her term, she was in charge of practically all of Cologne's important dance groups, including the Red and Blue Sparks and the Luftflotte .

To this day, the “grande dame of carnival dances” is actively involved in the fifth season , trains the Cologne triad and creates choreographies , e.g. B. for the dance club KG Grün-Weiß Schlebusch and the Bonn city soldiers.

The elements of classical ballet , which were introduced by Biggi Fahnenschreiber and which she skillfully combined with acrobatic interludes and daring throws to form a completely new choreographic synthesis, are important for the development of the Cologne carnival dance. This determines the image of the Cologne carnival dance groups to this day.

For her life's work, she was awarded the Order of Merit in Gold by the Cologne Carnival Festival Committee in 2015 .
