Hemmerleinhalle
The Hemmerleinhalle was a former concert hall in Neunkirchen am Brand in Upper Franconia .
history
The Hemmerleinhalle was built in 1973 as a multi-purpose hall and held up to 3500 spectators. It was named in honor of the former mayor of Neunkirchen, Georg Hemmerlein . From 1977 concerts of international music greats took place there regularly. The organizer Rainer Hänsel originally wanted to work in Nuremberg , but found the halls there to be too expensive. He struck gold in the market town of Neunkirchen am Brand, about 20 kilometers north of Nuremberg. Nevertheless, some of the posters said “Hemmerleinhalle Nürnberg, Germany”.
In reference to the heavy metal acts that were frequently booked there in the 1980s and their specialist organ Metal Hammer as a periodical , the venue was also referred to as the “Behammertenhalle”, phonetically similar to “be hammerd” and including Hemmerlein.
Concerts
Until the hall closed in 1988, the following performed there: Manfred Mann's Earth Band , Venom , Metallica , AC / DC , Frank Zappa , Udo Lindenberg , BAP , Nena , Black Sabbath , Dio , Scorpions , Iron Maiden , Kiss , Motörhead , The Police , Van Halen , Uriah Heep , Dire Straits , Anthrax , Slayer , Megadeth Tom Petty and many more. Reuse
After the concert, the hall was used as a tennis hall; since 2008 there has been a store for hairdressing equipment there. Only the neighboring Hotel Selau has survived economically to the present .
