Georg Hemmerlein

Georg Hemmerlein (born November 15, 1913 in Neunkirchen am Brand ; † November 13, 2003 there ) was a German politician ( CSU ).

Life and work

Hemmerlein was born in Neunkirchen in 1913 as one of five children. His parents were Johann Karl Hemmerlein and Anna Hemmerlein (née Böhmer).

After attending the elementary school in Neunkirchen am Brand , Hemmerlein switched to the humanistic grammar school in Erlangen , where he passed his school leaving examination. After labor service and conscription, he began studying civil engineering at the Technical University of Munich , which he completed with a degree in engineering . From 1939 on he took part in World War II as a soldier and was promoted to lieutenant in 1943. Shortly before the end of the war he was taken prisoner, from which he returned in 1945.

After 1945 Hemmerlein built a statics office and the concrete works Dipl.-Ing. Georg Hemmerlein GmbH & Co. KG , which went bankrupt in the 1990s. In 1960 he founded the Neunkirchen axle factory with Kaspar Lochner .

In 1969 he was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Eugène Cardinal Tisserant and invested in Bamberg Cathedral on October 25, 1969 by Lorenz Cardinal Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . He was last Commander of the Order.

Hemmerlein was married and had eleven children.

MP

Hemmerlein was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for the CSU from 1962 to 1970 . He represented the constituency Forchheim Stadt und Land, Neustadt / Aisch in parliament in both electoral terms . In the state parliament he was a member of the Committee for Economics and Transport. In his home parish of Neunkirchen am Brand , Hemmerlein had been a councilor since 1956, and he was also a member of the Forchheim district council for twelve years .

Public offices

From 1959 to 1974 Hemmerlein was the 1st mayor of his home town Neunkirchen am Brand. Among other things, he promoted the expansion of the town by designating new building areas.
