Education system in Lithuania
The education system in Lithuania includes the tertiary school system . It regulates the Education Act of the Republic of Lithuania of June 25, 1991 ( Lietuvos Respublikos švietimo įstatymas ). School attendance is compulsory up to the age of 16. After kindergarten / pre-school, the educational path begins with compulsory elementary school ( Progymnasium ).
structure
- Primary level - covers the first four years of school in primary school.
- Secondary level - leads to the Hauptschule or Gymnasium certificate and is divided into Hauptschule ( Progymnasium ), Mittelschule and Gymnasium .
- Tertiary level - begins after acquiring the university entrance qualification and is located at universities .
After primary school education, one goes to secondary school ( Progymnasium ). Then there are two options. In the secondary school you attend grades 5–8. or 5. – 10. The good students often switch to high school after the 8th grade. In the grammar school there are grades 9-12. Classes.
