The education system in Lithuania includes the tertiary school system . It regulates the Education Act of the Republic of Lithuania of June 25, 1991 ( Lietuvos Respublikos švietimo įstatymas ). School attendance is compulsory up to the age of 16. After kindergarten / pre-school, the educational path begins with compulsory elementary school ( Progymnasium ).

structure

After primary school education, one goes to secondary school ( Progymnasium ). Then there are two options. In the secondary school you attend grades 5–8. or 5. – 10. The good students often switch to high school after the 8th grade. In the grammar school there are grades 9-12. Classes.
