Valentin Friedrich von Rüchel (born June 20, 1723 at Gut Cusnow in Neumark , † September 23, 1784 in Aken ) was a Prussian colonel , chief of garrison regiment No. 4 and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

His father was the lieutenant in garrison regiment No. 8 Eustach Heinrich von Rüchel († 1738), the name of his mother is not exactly known. Valentin Friedrich von Rüchel was born on his father's estate in Cusnow in Neumark .

Military career

He joined the cadet corps in 1736, and in 1741 he was transferred as a Junker to the infantry regiment “von Anhalt-Dessau” . He became second lieutenant on January 19, 1746 and major in February 1766 . In May 1775 he became a lieutenant colonel and in July 1783 a colonel. Due to his poor health he was assigned to garrison battalion No. 4. He died on September 23, 1784 in Aken on the Elbe. During the Second Silesian War he was shot in the foot at the Battle of Chotusitz . In the Seven Years' War he fought at Zorndorf , at Domstadtl he commanded a battalion of convalescents as captain .

family

Rüchel married Christiane Friederike von Finck , a daughter of Major General Jonathan Friedrich von Finck , on May 6, 1763 . The daughter Henriette Louise Cristiana Marie (April 10, 1765 - June 8, 1818) was born from the marriage. On June 7, 1797 she married the Prussian captain Friedrich von Schmettau (born November 23, 1741 - March 21, 1807), a son of Karl Christoph von Schmettau .
