William Harvey "Bill" Warwick (* 17th November 1924 in Regina , Saskatchewan ; † 3. October 2007 ) was a Canadian ice hockey player , who in his playing days from 1941 to 1958, among others for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League played Has. His brothers Dick and Grant were also professional ice hockey players.

Career

Bill Warwick began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with the amateur team Regina Abbotts, for which he was active in the 1941/42 season. Due to good performance, the winger would then get a contract with the New York Rangers from the professional National Hockey League . There he could not prevail and within two years played only 14 games for the Rangers, in which he scored three goals and three assists. However, most of this time he spent with the New York Rovers in the EAHL, in which he also played two games for the Brooklyn Crescents. In 1943 he was elected to the second All-Star Team of the EAHL.

From 1944 to 1947 the Canadian played in the American Hockey League for the Hershey Bears , Pittsburgh Hornets , Providence Reds and Philadelphia Rockets . In the following four years he played in the USHL for the Fort Worth Rangers, Minneapolis Millers and Denver Falcons, but was still sporadically used in the AHL - in a total of 17 games for the Springfield Indians and in two games for the Cleveland Barons . For the 1951/52 season Warwick switched back to amateur hockey and played for the Ottawa Senators and Halifax St. Mary's. From 1952 to 1956 he played for the Penticton V’s , with whom he won the Allan Cup , the Canadian amateur championship, in 1954 . Most recently he played for the Trail Smoke Eaters and Kamloops Chiefs for a year before retiring at the age of 33.

International

With his club team Penticton V’s , Warwick was allowed to compete as the reigning Canadian amateur champion at the 1955 World Cup as the Canadian national team. In this he won the gold medal with his team. He himself was voted the tournament's best striker and member of its all-star team.
