Bill Wright

Bill Wright (* 20th century; † 6. January 2009 ) was a British film editor who mainly productions of the BBC cut has.

Life

Bill Wright earned his spurs almost invariably as an editor for the British Broadcasting Corporation between 1971 and 1994. His work for the BBC began with the documentary series All in a Day in 1971. This was followed in the 1970s, mostly for television and documentary series such as The Family , Kizzy , Omnibus , The Phoenix and the Carpet , Kilvert's Diary and Going Straight , Blue Peter Special Assignment or Penmarric .

Director Basil Coleman engaged Wright in 1977 for the British ten-part television miniseries Anna Karenina based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy with Nicola Pagett and Eric Porter . A year later, the director Dorothea Brooking hired him for her fantasy miniseries Der Mondschimmel about the legend of King Arthur with James Greene , Sarah Sutton , Caroline Goodall and David Haig in the leading roles.

In 1981, Bill Wright directed an episode of The Chinese Detective with David Yip as Detective Sergeant John Ho. In 1986, he worked on three episodes of the British-Australian co-production of The Singing Detective with Michael Gambon , Patrick Malahide and Joanne Whalley as a series cast for director Jon Amiel . It received an award from The Guild of British Film and Television Editors . Further work in the 1980s followed for the television series Screen Two and Screenplay .

In 1991 the director Robert Bierman brought him to his team as editor for his historical series Clarissa. Three years later, Wright worked again for Robert Bierman for his thriller Deadly Thoughts .

In 1996, Bill Wright worked for the production company Zenith Entertainment on their action series Bodyguards for the first time outside of the BBC.

The fruitful collaboration with the director Bierman culminated in the joint work on the film adaptation of the George Orwell novel Keep the Aspidistra Flying , which was shown in German cinemas in 1997 under the title Love, Art and Indoor Plants . The protagonists in the romantic drama were Richard E. Grant and Helena Bonham Carter . Wright then quit film.

Bill Wright passed away in 2009.
