(29402) Obelix is an asteroid of the outer main belt that was discovered on October 14, 1996 by the Czech astronomers Miloš Tichý and Zdeněk Moravec at the Kleť Observatory ( IAU code 046) near Český Krumlov .
(29402) Obelix is named after the cartoon character Obelix . The name was given by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) on August 6, 2003. On the same day, a main belt asteroid was named after Asterix , namely (29401) Asterix .
