Billy Burnette

Billy Burnette (born May 8, 1953 in Memphis , Tennessee ; full name William Beau Burnette III ) is an American guitarist , singer and songwriter . He also works as an actor.

Career

Burnette's family moved to Los Angeles in the late 1950s , where his father and uncle worked as songwriters for Ricky Nelson . At the age of seven he recorded his first single under the name Billy Beau . A full album followed with Elf, and two years later he toured with Brenda Lee .

After graduating from school in 1969, he first returned to Memphis. In 1971 he went to Nashville and accompanied Roger Miller as a guitarist. In 1972 he signed a recording deal and released an album on Entrance Records, but this did not achieve much success. In 1979 he moved to Polydor Records . Only his second album with Polydor contained a smaller hit with "What's A Little Love Between Friends". The following year he moved to Columbia Records . The single "Don't Say No" from his album released there reached number 68 on the Billboard Hot 100 . 1981 followed another solo album with Columbia.

Burnette met Mick Fleetwood and joined his band The Zoo . He also met other members of Fleetwood Mac through Fleetwood and subsequently worked with Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks . In 1985 he changed the record company again. The next solo album Try Me contained the single of the same name, which rose to number 68. The second single “Ain't It Just Like Love” reached number 51. The single of the same name for his album “Soldier Of Love”, which was released the next year, came to number 54.

In 1987 he wrote and produced the comeback album Mystery Girl by Roy Orbison , on which he was also involved as a guitarist. When guitarist Lindsey Buckingham Fleetwood Mac left that same year, Burnette became a member of Fleetwood Mac at the instigation of Mick Fleetwood. In 1992 Burnette released his eighth solo album and had another single in the charts with "Nothin 'To Do (And All Night To Do It)". After Fleetwood Mac took an artistic break in 1995, Burnette released a country music album together with Bekka Bramlett in 1997, but the duo separated again the following year. Two solo albums followed in 1999 and 2000. Between 2005 and 2010 Burnette was a member of John Fogerty's touring band .

Between 1994 and 1998, Burnette also acted in several feature films, including The Addams Family and Loved Relatives and Attack From the Dark . Among the artists who have recorded pieces by Burnette are Roy Orbison, Ray Charles , Jerry Lee Lewis , the Everly Brothers , Gregg Allman , Loretta Lynn and Ringo Starr .
