The settlement of Bimberg is a place in the municipality of St. Martin im Mühlkreis , Upper Austria . Bimberg currently has around 650 inhabitants, which makes it the second largest town in the municipality next to St. Martin itself. The residential village consists mainly of single-family houses.
Bimberg experienced massive growth in the 1980s and 1990s, evolving from a scattered cluster of a few houses to a large town.
Bimberg is centrally located thanks to the traffic connection (Bundesstrasse 127, Gerling train station) and the excellent connections to the regional capital Rohrbach in Upper Austria and, above all, to the provincial capital Linz .
The construction of the Kulturstadl in 2002 created a central venue for festive events.
Before the larger settlement, the entire settlement area was owned by the Schwarz families (leased from master builder Weber) and Hanner (farmer from Pettenberg). The market town of St. Martin bought this area in 1982 and declared it a residential village of Bimberg , initially with 118 building plots.
The Hanner house in the middle of the settlement was demolished in 2002 because the owner had died shortly before and there was no heir. In 2008, three new single-family houses were built in its place. There are no local amenities in the village.
