Birgit Hefti
Birgit Hefti (* 1941 ) is a former German athlete who - starting for the Federal Republic - was active as a sprinter in the 1960s .
As a member of SV Lurup , she was able to place herself several times at German indoor championships:
- 1963: 60 m hurdles runner-up behind Ingrid Schlundt
- 1967: 400 m runner-up behind Helga Henning
- 1968: 400 m runner-up behind Gisela Köpke
- 1969: 400 m third behind Christel Frese and Inge Eckhoff
- 1970: 400 m third behind Christel Frese and Heidi Gerhard
Birgit Hefti formed together with Christa Czekay , Antje Gleichfeld and Inge Eckhoff the "North German Quartet", which ran the German record on June 23, 1969 in London over 4 x 400 meters in 3: 41.5 minutes.
At the European Championships in Athens in the same year she was nominated for the relay as a substitute runner, but was not used.
In 1969 she married Dieter Barth, the sports manager of her club.
