Birgit Wagner (psychologist)
Birgit Wagner (* 1967 in Stuttgart ) is a German psychologist , non-fiction author and professor .
Live and act
Birgit Wagner studied psychology at the Free University of Berlin . In 2006 she did her doctorate at the University of Zurich in the department of psychopathology. The topic of her dissertation was Internet-based intervention for complicated grief . In 2008 she worked as a visiting scholar at the National University of Rwanda . Birgit Wagner completed her habilitation at the Leipzig University Hospital . There she led several projects on the subjects of obesity , trauma and suicidality funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) at the Integrated Research and Treatment Center (IFB) Obesity Diseases . Since 2007 she has been leading an internet- based therapy project called Ilajnafsy in cooperation with the Treatment Center for Torture Victims in Berlin , which is designed for Arab patients in conflict regions .
Birgit Wagner's research and therapy focus are trauma-related disorders such as persistent grief disorder . In this context, she bases her work (also) on internet-based psychotherapy , for example for depression , binge eating disorder , post-traumatic stress disorder and complicated grief.
Birgit Wagner trained as a psychological psychotherapist. In this context, she worked as a psychotherapist at the Psychotherapeutic Center of the Psychological Institute in Zurich from 2006 to 2009. She is a certified psycho-oncologist .
Birgit Wagner has held the professorship for clinical psychology and psychotherapy - behavioral psychology at the Medical School Berlin since 2014.
