The diocese of Agder and Telemark (Norwegian: Agder og Telemark bispedøme ) is one of the eleven dioceses of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Norway . Stein Reinertsen has served as bishop since 2013 . The cathedral is the Kristiansand cathedral .

history

The Diocese of Agder and Telemark was created in 1925 by dividing the Diocese of Christianssand , which had its seat in Stavanger from 1125 to 1682 as the (old) Diocese of Stavanger . In 1925 the province ( Fylke ) Rogaland formed the new diocese of Stavanger , while the provinces Vest-Agder , Aust-Agder (together Agder since 2020 ) and Telemark (since 2020 part of Vestfold og Telemark ) became the diocese of Agder . On January 1, 2005, the name was changed to the Diocese of Agder and Telemark .

scope

The diocese comprises (as of January 1, 2018) 115 parishes in ten provosts (Norwegian prosti ). In 2017 the Church of Norway belonged to 332,706 people; this corresponds to 67.3% of the population.
