The Diocese of Bethlehem was founded on February 12, 1948, initially as the Apostolic Vicariate "Bethlehemensis" from the Apostolic Vicariate Kroonstad by Pope Pius XII. founded. On January 11, 1951, Pius XII. the vicariate to today's diocese.
