history

The Archdiocese of Bloemfontein was founded on January 11, 1951 with the reorganization of the church hierarchy in South Africa by Pope Pius XII. founded out of the Apostolic Vicariates Aliwal and Kimberley. Bloemfontein is a metropolitan seat.

The suffragan dioceses of Bethlehem , Keimoes-Upington , Kimberley and Kroonstad are assigned to the Archdiocese of Bloemfontein .
