Zolile Peter Mpambani

Zolile Peter Mpambani SCJ (born February 20, 1957 in Umlamli ) is a South African religious and appointed Roman Catholic Archbishop of Bloemfontein .

Life

Zolile Peter Mpambani joined the Congregation of Dehonians in and put the profession on January 28 1982nd After studying philosophy and Catholic theology at the St. Joseph Seminary in Cedara , he was ordained a priest on April 25, 1987 .

After being ordained a priest, Mpambani first worked as a parish vicar in Sterkspruit , before becoming pastor in Burgersdorp in 1990 . From 1994 to 1997 he was the novice master of the pre-noviciate of the Dehonians. Afterwards Mpambani was General Councilor for Africa and Madagascar in the direction of his religious community in Rome . After a sabbatical year , he became superior in the religious branch in Bethulie in 2005 and again novice master of the pre-noviciate and director of the Dehonian House in Scottsville . From 2011 Zolile Peter Mpambani worked as a pastor in Sterkspruit. From February to May 2013 Mpambani was Provincial of the Dehonian Province of South Africa.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Kokstad on May 6, 2013 . The Archbishop of Pretoria , William Slattery OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on August 3 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Cape Town , Stephen Brislin , and the Bishop of Aliwal , Michael Wüstenberg .

On April 1, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Bloemfontein.
