The Roman Catholic Diocese of Kokstad ( Latin Dioecesis Kokstadensis , English Diocese of Kokstad ) is in South Africa situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Kokstad .

history

The diocese of Kokstad was founded on April 8, 1935 by Pope Pius XI. established from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Mariannhill as Apostolic Prefecture Mount Currie . On July 11, 1939, the Apostolic Prefecture Mount Currie was by Pope Pius XII. Elevated to the Apostolic Vicariate and renamed the Apostolic Vicariate Kokstad .

The Apostolic Vicariate Kokstad was on January 11, 1951 by Pope Pius XII. raised to the diocese and subordinated to the archdiocese of Durban as a suffragan .
