Buti Joseph Tlhagale

Buti Joseph Tlhagale OMI (born December 26, 1947 in Randfontein , Transvaal , South Africa ) is Archbishop of Johannesburg .

Life

Buti Joseph Tlhagale joined the congregation of the Huenfeld Oblates and made his profession in 1967. The Archbishop of Bloemfontein , Peter Fanyana John Butelezi OMI, ordained him a priest on August 29, 1976 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Bloemfontein on January 2, 1999. The episcopal ordination donated him the Archbishop Emeritus of Durban , Denis Eugene Hurley OMI, on April 10th of the same year; Co- consecrators were Louis Ncamiso Ndlovu OSM , Bishop of Manzini , and Reginald Joseph Orsmond , Bishop of Johannesburg.

On April 8, 2003 he was appointed Archbishop ad personam of Johannesburg and on June 29 of the same year he was introduced to the office. With the elevation to the archbishopric on June 5, 2007 he was appointed Archbishop of Johannesburg.

On April 26, 2013, Pope Francis also appointed him Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Klerksdorp .
