Louis Ncamiso Ndlovu

Louis Ncamiso Ndlovu OSM (born March 15, 1945 in Enkaba , † August 27, 2012 in Manzini ) was Roman Catholic bishop of the Manzini diocese in Swaziland.

Life

Louis Ncamiso Ndlovu joined the religious order of the Servites , made his profession on April 12, 1975 and was ordained a priest on May 4, 1978 in the cathedral in Manzini .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Apostolic Administrator on February 20, 1981 and Bishop of Manzini on July 1, 1985 . He was ordained episcopate on October 12, 1985 by the Bishop of Eshowe , Mansuet Dela Biyase ; Co-consecrators were George Francis Daniel , Archbishop of Pretoria and Military Ordinary of South Africa , and Wilfrid Fox Napier OFM , Bishop of Kokstad .

He was president of the Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference (SACBC).

Act

Ncamiso Ndlovu was known as a human rights activist , particularly against King Mswati III. He constantly intervened against the king's extravagance and demanded investment in education, health and other development programs.

He expressed his solidarity with the student body of the Swaziland College of Technology , who protested against the inadequate educational opportunities, including during the historic hunger strike at the University of Swaziland in the early 1990s. He gave the students asylum, preventing arrests by the police.

Ncamiso Ndlovu suffered from diabetes.
