Mansuet Dela Biyase

Mansuet Dela Biyase (born October 5, 1933 in Ixopo , South Africa , † June 26 or July 1, 2005 in Durban ) was Bishop of Eshowe .

Life

Mansuet Dela Biyase attended St Mary's Seminary in Ixopo from 1947 to 1954 , studied theology at St Peter's Major Seminary in Pevensey from 1955 to 1960 , received the sacrament of priestly ordination on July 10, 1960 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Mariannhill diocese . He then studied music at the Royal School of Music from 1961 to 1963 and was a music teacher in Ixopo. From 1962 to 1971 Biyase was an assistant priest in the parishes in Donnybrook , Umbumbulu and Mariannhill . In 1968 he became pastor in Umtwalume and in 1971 in Umlazi . Bishop Martin Elmar Schmid von Mariannhill made him his vicar general from 1974 to 1975.

On February 28, 1975, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to the second bishop of Eshowe. Martin Elmar Schmid, donated him the episcopal ordination on June 28 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Delegate of South Africa, Alfredo Poledrini , and the Archbishop of Durban , Denis Eugene Hurley . On September 3, 1996 he received the Grand Cross pro piis meritis of the Order of Merit Pro Merito Melitensi .
