history
The diocese of Campo Maior was on June 12, 1975 by Pope Paul VI. built with the papal bull Tametsi munus Ecclesiae from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Teresina and the Diocese of Parnaíba . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Teresina as a suffragan .
