Abel Alonso Núñez OdeM (born June 14, 1921 in Ríos , † March 8, 2003 in Campo Maior ) was a Spanish religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Campo Maior .

Life

Abel Alonso Núñez joined the Congregation of Mercedarian at and received on 22 December 1945, the priestly ordination .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on July 14, 1971 auxiliary bishop in Bom Jesus do Piauí and titular bishop of Nicives . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil , Archbishop Umberto Mozzoni , donated him episcopal ordination on September 24 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were José Vázquez Díaz OdeM, prelate of Bom Jesus do Piauí , Cândido Lorenzo González OdeM, prelate of São Raimundo Nonato , and José Alberto Lopes de Castro Pinto , auxiliary bishop in São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro .

The Pope appointed him Bishop of Campo Maior on March 24, 1976. On February 2, 2000, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
