The Diocese of Parnaíba ( Latin Dioecesis Parnaibensis , Portuguese Diocese de Parnaíba ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Parnaíba in the state of Piauí .
history
The diocese Parnaíba was on December 16, 1944 by Pope Pius XII. built from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Piauí and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Teresina, which was established at the same time, as a suffragan . In 1975 the diocese of Campo Maior was established from parts of the Parnaíba diocese and its archbishopric .
