Diocese of Castres
The diocese of Castres ( lat. : Dioecesis Castrensis ) was in southern France located diocese of the Roman Catholic in France . The bishopric was in the city of Castres .
history
The diocese of Castres was on July 9, 1317 by Pope John XXII. erected with the papal bull Salvator noster from cessions of territory of the then diocese of Albi . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Bourges as a suffragan . The first bishop was Dieudonné . On October 3, 1678, the diocese of Castres was reclassified into the newly established ecclesiastical province of Albi as a suffragan seat.
On November 29, 1801, the Diocese of Castres was dissolved as a result of the Concordat of 1801 by Pope Pius VII with the Papal Bull Qui Christi Domini and the territory was reincorporated into the Archdiocese of Albi .
In the 17th century, the Castres diocese comprised around 120 parishes .
