The Diocese of Chalan Kanoa ( Latin : Dioecesis Vialembensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church on the outskirts of the United States of the Northern Mariana Islands with its seat in Chalan Kanoa on the island of Saipan .

history

With the Apostolic Constitution Properamus, Pope John Paul II founded the diocese on November 8, 1984 from cession of territory from the Archdiocese of Agaña , to which it is also subordinate as a suffragan diocese. From its foundation until his retirement on April 6, 2010, Tomas Aguon Camacho was bishop of this diocese. Ryan Jimenez has been his successor since June 24, 2016 .
