history

The Diocese of Dharmapuri was established on January 24, 1997 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Totius dominici gregis from cessions of territory from the Diocese of Salem and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Pondicherry and Cuddalore as a suffragan .
