Joseph Anthony Irudayaraj

Joseph Anthony Irudayaraj SDB (born October 4, 1935 in Pursawalkam ; † November 29, 2019 in Chennai ) was an Indian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Dharmapuri .

Life

Joseph Anthony Irudayaraj joined the Order of the Salesians of Don Bosco and was ordained a priest on April 20, 1965 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Dharmapuri on January 24, 1997 . The Cardinal Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches , Duraisamy Simon Cardinal Lourdusamy , consecrated him bishop on April 24 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were James Masilamony Arul Das , Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore , and Michael Augustine , Archbishop of Pondicherry and Cuddalore .

On January 13, 2012, Pope Benedict XVI. the resignation put forward by Joseph Anthony Irudayaraj for reasons of age.
