The Diocese of Fossombrone ( lat. : Dioecesis Forosemproniensis ) was one in Italy located Roman Catholic diocese based in Fossombrone .

history

The diocese of Fossombrone was established in the 5th century. The first bishop was Settimio . The diocese of Fossombrone was directly subordinated to the Holy See as a suffragan . On June 4, 1563, the diocese of Fossombrone was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Urbino as a suffragan.

On September 30, 1986 the diocese of Fossombrone, together with the diocese of Cagli and Pergola, was annexed to the diocese of Fano by the Congregation for the Bishops with the decree Instantibus votis .

The diocese of Fossombrone comprised 43 parishes and was 242 km² in size. It had 20,100 Catholics and 54 priests .
