history
The Diocese of Hengyang was founded on July 23, 1930 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Ex hac from cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Changsha as Apostolic Vicariate Hengyang .
The Apostolic Vicariate Hengyang was on April 11, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Changsha as a suffragan .
