Changsha Archdiocese

The Chinese Archdiocese of Changsha (Latin Archidioecesis Ciamsciavensis ) emerged from the Apostolic Vicariate Hu-Nan Meridionale, founded on September 19, 1879 , from which it was separated on December 3, 1924 as the Apostolic Vicariate.

This was elevated to an archbishopric on April 11, 1946.

His last bishop for a long time , the Italian Secondino Petronio Lacchio OFM, died on February 20, 1976. After a vacancy of more than 42 years, Pope Francis recognized the archbishop of the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association , Methodius Qu Ai-lin , on February 22. September 2018 as Metropolitan of the Archdiocese.
