history
The diocese of Port-Gentil was established on March 19, 2003 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Cum petitum from cession of territory to the Archdiocese of Libreville and subordinated to this as a suffragan diocese. First Bishop was Mathieu Madega Lebouankehan .
