The Diocese of Shantou ( lat. : Dioecesis Scianteuvensis ) is in the People's Republic of China Located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Shantou .

history

The Diocese of Shantou was established on April 6, 1914 by Pope Pius X from cession of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Guangdong as Apostolic Vicariate Kiaotsu . On August 18, 1915, the Apostolic Vicariate Kiaotsu was renamed Apostolic Vicariate Shantou .

The Apostolic Vicariate Shantou was on April 11, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Quotidie Nos and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Canton as a suffragan .
