The diocese of Wallis and Futuna ( lat . : Dioecesis Uveanus et Futunensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the French overseas territory of Wallis and Futuna with its seat in Mata-Utu .

history

Pope Pius XI founded the Apostolic Vicariate of Wallis and Futuna with the Apostolic Constitution Quidquid fidei on November 11, 1935 from cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Central Oceania .

On June 21, 1966 it was elevated to the diocese of Wallis and Futuna with the Apostolic Constitution Prophetarum voces and on April 25, 1974 it took its current Latin name, which was originally Dioecesis Uallisiensis et Futunensis.
