Susitino Sionepoe

Susitino Sionepoe SM (born January 4, 1965 in Vaitupu , Wallis Islands , Wallis and Futuna ) is a French religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Wallis and Futuna .

Life

Susitino Sionepoe joined the religious order of the Marist Fathers after graduating from high school and studied philosophy at the regional seminar in Suva from 1984 to 1986 . After his military service in 1987 and 1988, he studied theology in Suva and completed his second novitiate in 1992 . On November 28, 1993, he received the sacrament of ordination .

In addition to various activities in pastoral care and other studies, he was regional vicar of the Marist Fathers in Oceania from 2012 to 2018, based in Suva.

On December 24, 2018, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Wallis and Futuna. The Archbishop of Nouméa , Michel-Marie Calvet SM, donated him episcopal ordination on March 24 of the following year . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Port-Vila , Jean Bosco Baremes SM, and the Archbishop of Papeete , Jean-Pierre Cottanceau SSCC .
