Ghislain de Rasilly SM (born July 9, 1943 in Juvardeil , near Châteauneuf-sur-Sarthe , France ) is a French religious and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Wallis and Futuna .

Life

Rasilly attended elementary school in Paris and the secondary school Notre Dame de Buky . He then entered the novitiate of the Marist Fathers in La Neylière ( Diocese of Lyon ) and studied philosophy and Catholic theology in Sainte Foy de Lyon. He was ordained a priest on November 6, 1971 in Paris . Afterwards he held the following offices:

  • Kaplan in the College of Marists “St. Pierre Chanel " in Thionville (1971–1973)
  • Collaborator of the Marist Community in Tyé (New Caledonia) (1973–1981)
  • Collaborator of the Marist Community in Pouébo (New Caledonia) (1981–1986)
  • Advanced training course at the Catholic Faculty in Paris (1985–1987)
  • Superior of the Marist community and pastor in Pouébo (1987–1995)
  • Upper of the New Caledonia Region (2001-2003)
  • University chaplain and chaplain of the secondary schools in Noumé (1995–2002).

Since 2003 he has been Vicar of the Order of the Pacific Ocean Province based in Suva. He was on June 20, 2005 by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed bishop and consecrated on August 7th.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on December 24, 2018.
