Bitter: Sweet is a trip-hop - duo from Los Angeles , consisting of Shana Halligan (vocals) and Kiran Shahani (production).
Band history
Bitter: Sweet was formed in 2006 around Shana Halligan (vocals) and Kiran Shahani (production). Kiran Shahani was also a founding member of Supreme Beings of Leisure , Halligan is the daughter of Dick Halligan of Blood, Sweat & Tears . The two found each other through an ad placed by Shahani on Craigslist looking for a singer.
Shortly after the founding, the debut album The Mating Game was released in April 2006 via Quango . The duo was best known through MySpace . Her songs can be found on the soundtrack of The Devil Wears Prada and in episodes of some US series (including Grey's Anatomy , Smallville ). In Germany, the song Dirty Laundry from the album The Mating Game is also used as the theme song for Doctor's Diary .
After the remix album The Remix Game , the second album Drama was released in 2008 . The song The Bomb was used on the Lipstick Jungle series theme song .
The EP The Break Up followed in 2010 . Then Shana Halligan tried a solo career. Among other things, she performed with Nouvelle Vague and collaborated with Serj Tankian .
In 2015 the duo returned with the album Trilogy , compiled by Bruno Guez .
Music genre
Musically mix of bitter: Sweet 70s and 80s lounge music and soul music with trip-hop. Stylistically, they are often compared to Björk , Everything but the Girl and Zero 7 .
