Bjorn Berg

Björn Berg (born September 17, 1923 in Unterwössen im Chiemgau ; † July 14, 2008 ) was a Swedish draftsman, painter and graphic artist.

After two years at the Technical School in Stockholm , Björn Berg continued his studies in the graphic department of the Art Academy. He also studied with André Lhote and Fernand Léger in Paris . From 1927 to 1935 he lived in New York .

Berg has drawn in different contexts. He was best known as an illustrator of the popular history books by Alf Henrikson , Alf Prøysen's books on "Frau Spoon" and Astrid Lindgren's books on Michel from Lönneberga . In 1971 he received the Elsa Beskow plaque for his illustrations in Michel from Lönneberga .

One of the illustrations for Michel appeared on a stamp for Astrid Lindgren's eightieth birthday in 1987. Berg worked as a draftsman for the Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter for more than 50 years .

Björn Berg last lived in Djursholm .
