Also in the 2008/09 season Melin reached the finals with his team, in which he and his team lost to the opponent Färjestad BK with 1: 4 wins. The 2010/11 season began with a commitment to Melin HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in the Continental Hockey League before the Swede of Friborg-Gottéron from the National League A has been committed. For this he played 23 NLA games and scored 16 points.
For the 2011/12 season Melin received a contract with Dinamo Riga from the KHL. After eleven pointless games, he was released early from his contract in October 2011.
