career
society
Björn Runström came to Hammarby IF from Enskede at the age of twelve . He quickly became a key player in the youth teams in the club and the national team. At the age of 16 he moved to FC Bologna , but could not prevail in the A-team. At the age of eighteen he was signed by Chievo Verona , but the player, who was considered a super talent, could not prevail here either. The next stop was AC Florence , where it was similar to him.
When he found out that his club wanted to secure the services of the up-and-coming Kim Källström from Djurgårdens IF and offer him as an exchange object, Björn Runström was so appalled that he categorically refused to do this. What made those responsible at Djurgårdens IF white-hot turned out to be a stroke of luck for arch-rivals Hammarby IF. Runström moved back home free of charge in 2003. There he had his breakthrough and he played in the Swedish U-21 national team.
Runström moved to Fulham in 2006 . From there he was loaned to the English second division club Luton Town in January 2007 . At the beginning of the 2007/08 season he moved to the German second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern on loan . After he could not convince with his appearances in Kaiserslautern and finally was only Joker under the new coach Milan Šašić , he moved to Denmark to Odense BK for the 2008/09 season . After he only played a reservist role there, however, he was loaned to Molde FK for the 2010 season until the end of the year , who also had a purchase option for Runström. After returning to Odense, Runström moved back home to Hammarby IF. In the spring of 2012, Runström completed a trial training at New England Revolution in the United States and finally signed a contract in late March. After three goalless appearances as a substitute in Major League Soccer , the club waived an option at the end of June that would have tied Runström to the club in the second half of the year.
National team
Runström played 20 times for Sweden's U21 team between 2004 and 2006 , scoring five goals.
