Bjorn Schoo

Björn Schoo (born June 30, 1981 in Langenau ) is a former German basketball player on the position of the center . The 2.13 meter long player played in the Bundesliga for Cologne, Hagen and Gießen, and there were also several stations abroad. Most recently he played for the Swiss club Starwings Basket Basel from 2016 to 2018 .

career

Schoo played as a teenager for TV Bad Säckingen, then for USC Freiburg . In the 2001/02 season he made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga for Freiburg . In 2003 he went to the United States to Northern State University (State of South Dakota) from the second division of the NCAA . Until 2006, Schoo played 64 games (6.4 points, 3.2 rebounds on average) for NSU.

In 2006 he went back to Europe, played for several clubs and ended up with the Berlin second division club TuS Lichterfelde , where he played in the 2006/07 season. At the beginning of the 2007/08 season, Schoo first went on basketball for the Dutch first division club Den Helder Seals, and then from February 2008 for the German second division Kaiserslautern Braves .

This was followed by the move to the highest German division: Schoo was part of the Cologne 99ers ' squad in 2008/09 , for whom he appeared in 18 Bundesliga games (4.0 points, 2.2 rebounds on average). In the next three years he was in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA at the UBC Hannover Tigers (2009/10) and at USC Heidelberg (2010 to 2012) before he was brought back to the Bundesliga by Phoenix Hagen . For the club he played 17 BBL games in 2012/13 with values ​​of 1.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per use.

In 2013/14 Schoo played for VfL Kirchheim in the second division, then moved to the Gießen 46ers , with whom he was promoted to the Bundesliga in 2015 and then played for Hessen in the German elite league in 2015/16.

After two years in Giessen, Schoo moved to Starwings Basket Regio Basel in the Swiss National Basketball League in 2016 . After the end of the 2017/18 season, he retired from competitive sports.

National team

In the summer of 2006, Schoo was invited to the training camp of the German national team by the then national coach Dirk Bauermann , but he never played an international match. But Schoo was a member of the German A2 selection.
