The Blücherstein is a boulder near the Kavel Pass in the Boldekow municipality in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district . The stone designated as a geotope is located north of Friedland, west of the federal highway 197 to Anklam . It is located on a plateau in a gravel mine north of the ditch .

The Blücherstein is 5.2 meters long, 4 meters wide and 3.5 meters high. Its circumference is 11.5 meters. The calculation of its volume gave 38 cubic meters. It consists of fine-grain granite and is strongly fissured . The stone was brought to its place of discovery by glaciers from Scandinavia during the Vistula Ice Age.

According to legend, the young Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher , who was fighting on the Swedish side at the time, was captured by the Prussian hussar Gottfried Landeck in a skirmish near the Kavel Pass during the Seven Years' War on August 27, 1760 . With Blüchers joining the Prussian army soon afterwards, his military career began, which is what the name "Blücherstein" is intended to remind of.
