Middle ditch of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania land ditch system |
The Landgraben is a 33 km long body of water in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, together with the Great Landgraben to the west . It directs its water westwards to the Tollense and eastwards into the Zarow . The pseudobifurcation is located near Bresewitz, a district of Friedland .
It bears its name as the former northern border of the eastern part of Mecklenburg-Strelitz .
It lies in a glacial valley that continues northwest to the mouth of the Recknitz , the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania border valley . The apex of the ditch is about 9.5 m above sea level. About 10 kilometers north-west of this river, the Kleine Landgraben joins the Klempenow Castle from the south about 7 m above sea level , also a body of water with two directions of flow. From here to the confluence with the Tollense the Landgraben is continued by the Großer Landgraben. Because of the over-width of the glacial valley, there are parallel waters in some sections, of which the middle ditch (also known as the “Neuer Graben”) in the area between the Datzemünd , which is about one and a half kilometers east of the apex area, and the small land ditch is more important than the land ditch itself.
The Peene-Südkanal , which is fed by a pumping station on the lower Peene , is introduced only 1 km east of the Datz estuary at the Kavelpass weir . The Landgraben used to flow further east through the Putzarer See , 7.2 m above sea level. Nowadays it is passed by. There is also the Faulengraben there . To the east of this, the Landgraben runs through the north of the Friedländer Großer Wiese . The water balance of this ameliorated fen is regulated with its help. At Ferdinandshof on the eastern edge of the Friedland Great Meadow, the Landgraben joins the Floßgraben leading to the Zarow .
