Blackout is an American psycho thriller from the year 2008 .

In the event of a power failure, three residents of a dilapidated house are locked in the building's elevator. Since their cell phones do not work there, they have no choice but to wait for help, which is missing.
The three are introduced in more detail in flashbacks, and you learn that they all urgently need to do something for which it could be too late the next day: Claudia is a loner and almost exclusively busy with her studies. Only with her grandmother does she occasionally go on short trips. However, when she is seriously injured in a traffic accident, is dying and asks Claudia to bring her the photo of her deceased husband, she rushes home immediately, getting into the elevator.
Tommy, on the other hand, is a womanizer and the son of wealthy parents. When one day he protects his new girlfriend from her abusive father and accidentally knocks him out, they plan to emigrate to Paris . The same evening they want to meet at his apartment, but he too is trapped in the fateful elevator.
The third trapped is a young doctor named Karl who is not only a family man, but also a sadistic serial killer . His daughter will visit him shortly, which is why he has to quickly get the young woman he met in a bar and brutally murdered out of his apartment.
When trying to climb to a higher floor, Tommy falls and breaks his leg, and the whole elevator threatens to crash. Little by little, the calm Karl becomes more and more psychopathic and begins to threaten and insult the other two. Knowing that his daughter will find the body, he goes nuts, reveals himself to the others as a serial killer and stabs Tommy. During the attack on Claudia, however, the elevator crashes a little, and she manages to get to a floor through the half-open door. Karl stabs her several times from the elevator before the elevator finally crashes and tears him to his death.
Claudia, who survived the attack, wakes up in the hospital and learns that her grandmother has since passed away.
