Blanche Sewell

Blanche Sewell (born October 27, 1898 in Lowe , Oklahoma , † February 2, 1949 in Burbank , California ) was an American film editor .

Life

Sewell was hired as editor of MGM in 1925 and worked exclusively for this studio from then on. Along with Anne Bauchens , Viola Lawrence , Margaret Booth and Adrienne Fazan , she was one of Hollywood's established female editors. In the 1930s she was responsible for the prestige productions Menschen im Hotel ( Grand Hotel , 1932) and Queen Christine ( Queen Christina ) with MGM's great star Greta Garbo . The box office hits Feuerkopf ( Red-Headed Woman , 1932) and Dschungel im Sturm ( Red Dust , 1932) with Jean Harlow are also among her works. From 1935 she came several times in film musicals used as Broadway Melody of 1936 ( Broadway Melody of 1936 ) from 1935, Born to Dance ( Born to Dance , 1936) and The Wizard of Oz ( The Wizard of Oz , 1939).

Sewell was married to Leon Bourgeau and died in Burbank , California in 1949 at the age of only 50 . She was buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood .
