Margaret Booth

Margaret Booth (born January 16, 1898 in Los Angeles , California , USA ; † October 28, 2002 ) was an American film editor .

Life

Booth's film career began in 1915, shortly after she graduated from high school and from DW Griffith as assistant editor for Orphans of the Storm ( Orphans of the Storm was hired). In 1921 she moved to Louis B. Mayer , a film producer that was still independent at the time. After the founding of the MGM studios by Marcus Loew, Louis B. Mayer and Irving Thalberg , Booth worked for MGM until 1968, where she was promoted to chief editor in 1939 and supervised all productions in terms of film editing .

For her work on Mutiny on the Bounty from 1935 Booth was Oscar nominated . In 1977 Booth was then honored with an honorary Oscar for her life's work.

In 1990 Booth was honored with the Booth American Cinema Editors Career Achievement Award . She died of a stroke in 2002 at the age of 104 and was buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery .
