The Wolnrabesche Freihof is a listed former Vorwerk in the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .
location
The property is located at Carl-Ritter-Straße 1 in the southern part of the historic Quedlinburg old town. It is registered in the Quedlinburg monument register as a Vorwerk and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site . In the past, the address Blasiistraße 13 was also given for the property in the monument register.
Architecture and history
Several historic half-timbered houses belong to the courtyard . The oldest building is an elongated half-timbered building from the late Baroque period, which is documented in the year 1795. Around 1800, a former half-timbered storage facility was built, which was later converted into a residential building. Another half-timbered house is in the courtyard and was built at the beginning of the 19th century.
The courtyard is located directly on the southern city wall of the historic Quedlinburg city fortifications. The development partially replaces the former city wall, while other parts were used as property fencing. There is a newer gate system on the east side of the area. A pigeon tower that originally belonged to the Vorwerk is now part of the Wordgasse 4 property .
From 1922, church services for Quedlinburg's Jewish community took place in the area facing Carl-Ritter-Strasse .
The hotel "Zum Brauhaus", which belongs to the neighboring Lüdde brewery, is located in the area today .
