Blasius Amon
Anton Blasius Amon (* around 1558 in Hall ( Tyrol ); † in early June 1590 in Vienna ) was an Austrian singer, composer and Franciscan .
Around 1568 Blasius Amon came to the court chapel of Archduke Ferdinand II in Innsbruck as a choir boy . He received a thorough musical education under the Kapellmeister Wilhelm Bruneau (active from 1564 to 1584) and Alexander Utendal (active from 1564 to 1581), which he perfected on study trips. Above all, his stay in Venice from 1574 to 1577 left traces in his work. He not only brought the usual modulations back home with him, but also the Venetian double choir.
In 1582 he published his first musical work “Liber sacratissimarum cantionum selectissimus” in Vienna . "Sacrae Cantiones" published in Munich in 1590 .
There is evidence that Blasius Amon worked for various monasteries ( Zwettl , Lilienfeld , Heiligenkreuz and Neustift near Brixen ). He created mainly sacred vocal works, including polyphonic motets and masses.
In the spring of 1587 he entered the Franciscan order in Vienna and was ordained a priest before his untimely death.
