Blasius Braun

Blasius Braun (born February 2, 1823 in Spaichingen , † July 6, 1883 in Balingen ) was a German organ builder who mainly worked in southern Germany and Switzerland .

Life

Blasius Braun and his older brother Joseph Braun (1807–1877) were the sons of Johann Michael Braun and the nephews of Joseph Anton Braun , with whom Blasius Braun is said to have worked as an apprentice. After working with his brother since 1830, he moved his workshop to Balingen, Am Steinenbühl in 1857, while Joseph Braun continued his uncle's workshop and was in constant contact with Martin Braun .

Several times between 1875 and 1883 he repaired and tuned the organ in the parish church of St. Verena in Risch , which was replaced in 1901 by the Kuhn company from Männedorf . The preservation or whereabouts of the organ repaired by Braun is unknown.

He was married to the daughter of the chief medical officer Huzel.

Works

  • 1858: A first work and test object in the Lautlinger church (not preserved).
  • 1876: Parish church St. Jakobus and St. Barbara in Dietwil and its preservation and whereabouts from a new building in 1931 by Willisau AG has not been clarified.

Repairs and restorations

  • 1876: Parish church of St. Georg and Zeno in Arth am See ; the whereabouts and existence of the organ after it was sold in 1896 to Pastor Leopold Sidler from Walterswil-Rothacker , and the repair by the organ builder Klingler from Rorschach has not yet been clarified.
  • 1877: Renewed renovation of the organ of the parish church of St. Peter and Paul in Oberägeri and final dismantling of the organ in 1905 and it is not known whether it was preserved. An organ by Mathis Orgelbau has stood here since 1977 .
